Terms of Use
These terms apply to your use of the FlatSixDynamics iOS application (“the App”). By installing or using the App, you agree to them. If you don't, please uninstall.
The Short Version
FlatSixDynamics is a real-time computational fluid dynamics demonstration that visualises the airflow around a 2D cross-section of a sports car. It exists to be looked at, learned from, and enjoyed. It is not an engineering tool. Treat the numbers it shows the way you would treat the figures on a wristwatch's tachymeter scale: meaningful within the instrument, not authoritative outside it.
What the App Is
FlatSixDynamics solves the compressible Navier–Stokes equations in two dimensions over a discretised grid using textbook numerical methods (HLLC flux, MUSCL reconstruction, SSP-RK3 time integration). It displays the resulting velocity, pressure, and derived quantities as a heatmap, vector field, and live telemetry.
It is intended for: appreciation of aerodynamic phenomena, educational exploration, and the simple pleasure of watching pressure waves form behind a moving object.
What the App Is Not
The App is not:
- A validated CFD code for engineering decision-making.
- A source of force, drag, or downforce coefficients suitable for vehicle development.
- A predictor of real-world aerodynamic performance of any specific vehicle.
- An affiliated, licensed, or endorsed product of any automobile manufacturer.
- A substitute for wind-tunnel testing, full 3D RANS / LES simulation, or competent professional judgement.
Numerical values shown in the App are illustrative. They are derived from a simplified two-dimensional model running on consumer-grade GPU hardware in real time, with all the approximations that implies. Do not use them to inform any decision that has consequences in the physical world.
Vehicle References
The silhouette displayed in the App is a stylised two-dimensional cross-section, drawn for visualisation purposes. It is presented as a generic mid-engine sports car profile. FlatSixDynamics is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by any vehicle manufacturer. All trademarks remain the property of their respective owners.
Intellectual Property
The App, its source code, and the visualisations it produces are © 2026 the developer. The numerical methods used are textbook techniques in the public domain. The FlatSixDynamics name and brand are claimed as common-law marks; defensive registration is in preparation.
Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law: the App is provided “as is”, without warranty of any kind. The developer accepts no liability for any decision taken, or not taken, on the basis of anything the App displays. Where local consumer-protection law guarantees rights that cannot be waived (German Produkthaftungsgesetz, EU Consumer Sales Directive, equivalent statutes in other jurisdictions), those rights remain unaffected.
In-App Purchases
If and when the App offers paid features, those purchases are handled by Apple under the App Store's standard terms. Refund requests follow Apple's process. EU residents may request a refund directly through Apple at support.apple.com/HT204084 within fourteen days of purchase for any reason.
Changes to These Terms
Material changes will be surfaced in the App's “About” panel before they take effect. Continued use of the App after a change constitutes acceptance.
Governing Law
These terms are governed by the laws of the Federal Republic of Germany. The courts of the developer's place of residence shall have jurisdiction, except where mandatory consumer-protection law of your country of residence requires otherwise.
