Engineering

Built by engineers, not a studio. The calm under the surface is the part that took the longest.

FlatSixDynamics is the work of people who have spent their careers close to moving air. Behind the color and motion sits more than three decades of engineering and operations experience, shaped by university training in Germany and abroad, doctoral and post-doctoral study, and a long focus on aerodynamics and numerical simulation.

That background is the reason the app behaves the way it does. What you watch on screen is not a loop of pre-rendered footage but a live calculation — the equations of moving air solved thousands of times a second, each pass correcting the one before. Making that honest, fast, and quiet enough to leave running on a desk is a problem of numerics first and presentation second, and both are answered here by hand.

The same temperament runs wider than a single field. Alongside the aerodynamics is a broad grounding in energy-systems engineering and a standing habit of following where the technology leads — taking new methods as they arrive and putting them to practical use rather than admiring them from a distance.

None of this asks to be taken on faith. The canonical cases in the app — the cylinder, the airfoil, the nozzle — are textbook flows with known answers, run by the same solver, so the physics can be checked against the record rather than simply trusted.

A beautiful, credible visualization of airflow — not a certified engineering tool, and not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by any vehicle manufacturer.
